Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving, a time for giving thanks for all the things we've been blessed with. It is also a time for helping out others, and it shows! We've recieved three more contributions since the last post. This brings our total up to $350. I have just talked to Dr. Mallika, and she has told me the exact numbers we are going for. there will be 100 children, which means 100 bags, costing 150-175 Indian Rupees each. The meals for all the children will cost 10 Indian Rupees each, for a total of around $350 to $400 needed. We've hit the bottom limit, so just a bit more!

Update: Headway on the Donations

Thanks to all the donors. We have gotten 4 more envelops since the last post, which means our total is up to $290, woo hoo!

Please make the checks out to 'Sanjay Das'.

I had sent an email to my aunt Malli about the cost of the school bags but I have still not heard back on that, yet. My dad tells me that it will probably cost around $400, so it looks like we are going to go for a second round of donations.

I now have a full plan set for this project. Hopefully things will get done more smoothly and efficiently.

First Step: Collecting Donations

On the first week of October I sent out emails asking for donations to 20 different family friends. About ten responded, and I had sent out self-addressed envelops to them. So far I have received donations from seven of those people. The total we have raised so far is $185.

Today I have sent out reminders to those who pledged to donate, but haven't sent in their donations, I will wait for a couple more days for their response, and them I'll ask a few more family friends for donations.
